It’s hard to talk about Tacony without mentioning the Disston family. Henry Disston, founder of the Disston Saw Works, and his family were influential to the development of this neighborhood. Through land donations, job creation, and careful control of leisure activities—the Disston’s created a Victorian town that forms the bones of the Tacony we know today.
